What are Fillers Made With?
There are a variety of FDA approved filler products that cosmetic surgeons use. In general, fillers are categorized by the substance they are made from.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is already found in your skin. It helps keep skin plump and hydrated. HA fillers are typically soft and gel-like. The results are temporary, lasting 6 to 12 months or longer before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles. Most HA fillers are infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment. FDA approved HA fillers include:
- Judeverm Products
- Restylane products
- Belotero Balance
- Revanesse Versa
- The RHA Collection
Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA)
Calcium hydroxylapatite is also a naturally occurring substance, found primarily in our bones. When used in a filler, the calcium particles are nearly microscopic and suspended in a smooth gel. The consistency of a CaHA filler is typically thicker than that of a hyaluronic acid filler and typically last longer as well, about 12 months for most patients. Calcium hydroxylapatite is also reported to help stimulate natural collagen production, and it is typically used for deeper lines and wrinkles. FDA approved CaHA fillers include Radiesse®.
Poly-L-lactic acid
Poly-L-lactic acid is a biocompatible (meaning it is safe to use in the body), biodegradable synthetic substance. Poly-L-lactic acid products are technically classified as “collagen stimulators,” as their main mechanism to smooth fine lines is by helping your skin rebuild natural collagen—the filler gel itself dissipates a few days after treatment. Poly-L-lactic acid is typically used to treat deeper facial wrinkles, and results can last more than 2 years. FDA approved Poly-L-lactic acid fillers include Sculptra® Aesthetic.
Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)
Polymethylmethacrylate is a synthetic, biocompatible substance that has been used in medicine for much of the last century. In dermal fillers, PMMA takes the form of a “microsphere” or tiny ball, that remains beneath the skin indefinitely to provide continued support. PMMA fillers will also contain collagen, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that provides structure and firmness. FDA approved PMMA fillers include Bellafill®
Why Dermal Fillers?
With age, the natural fat pads that provide our faces with structure and lift begin to diminish. This loss of support causes facial features to shift downward, leading to a loss of definition. Dermal fillers bridge this gap by mimicking that lost structural support. Beyond just adding volume, these Hyaluronic Acid (HA) injectables boost internal hydration and restore the facial framework, providing a safe and effective way to maintain your natural contours.
- Restore Structure: Rebuild the support system that prevents skin from sagging.
- Replenish Volume: Bring back the natural “bounce” and contour of youthful skin.
- Deeply Hydrate: Utilize Hyaluronic Acid to lock in moisture from the inside out.
- Lasting Results: Enjoy a refreshed look for up to 18 months with a single treatment.

Overview
Under Eye Filler
- The “tear-trough” or under-eye area can develop hollows as we lose the supportive fat pads in our mid-face. By strategically placing dermal filler in this delicate area, we can restore lost volume and smooth the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek. The outcome is smoother, younger-looking, more radiant skin and a reduction in deep wrinkles and lines.
Under eye filler treats:
- Under eye hollows
- Dark under-eye circles
- A tired or sunken appearance
- Under eye filler takes only 30 minutes, but the final results will usually be visible at around 2 weeks.
Filler for Smile Lines
- Nasolabial Folds or “smile-lines” are deep creases that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth. While these lines are a natural part of facial expression, they can become deeper and more permanent as the mid-face loses its youthful structural fat. By using Dermal filler to gently support the skin and replace lost volume, we can soften the depth of these folds. The final result aims to smooth, refresh and restore the appearance.
Filler for smile lines treats:
- Laugh lines
- Lost volume in the mid-face area
- Static lines that remain visible when the face is at rest
- Once the final desired result is achieved it will last 6-12 months with only touch-ups required after this time.
Filler for Cheekbone Enhancement
- High, well-defined cheekbones are a hallmark of facial youth and structure. Over time, the natural fat pads in the cheeks begin to descend and deplete, which can lead to a “hollowing” effect and contribute to sagging in the lower face. Injecting filler into the cheek area provides an immediate lift and restores a youthful appearance with natural-looking volume. This not only enhances the bone structure but also provides a subtle lift to the surrounding facial tissues.
Cheek Filler Treats:
- Flat or sagging cheeks
- Loss of mid-face definition
- Hollowing below the cheekbones
- Nasolabial folds
- Results show immediately but best at 2 weeks. Results can last up to 18 months depending on your lifestyle, genetics, and metabolism.
Lip Filler
- Lips are often the first area to show a loss of volume and hydration. Whether due to genetics or the natural aging process, lips can thin and lose their crisp border, leading to a less defined smile or the appearance of fine lines. Using Hyaluronic Acid fillers, we can artistically enhance the lips to add soft volume, define the "Cupid’s bow," and smooth out vertical lines. The result is a plush, hydrated look that remains natural and mobile.
Lip Filler Treats:
- Thin or asymmetrical lips
- Loss of lip border and definition
- Disappearing lip while smiling
- Desire for cupids bow definition
- Desire for fuller pillow-like pout
Filler for Jawline Enhancement
- Jawline filler is a great way to enhance the contour and structure of the jawline and surrounding facial area, bringing strength and character to the face, chin, and jawline. As skin loses elasticity and facial fat shifts, the jawline can become soft or jowly. Dermal fillers can be used to sharpen the mandibular angle and straighten the jawline, creating a more "snapped" and defined profile. This treatment helps frame the face and provides a structured, youthful appearance.
Jawline filler Treats:
- Soft or weak jawline definition
- Early signs of jowls
- Lack of separation between the face and neck
- Desire for a more defined or chiseled jawline
- Once the desired result is achieved, results typically last 6–12 months, with occasional touch-ups recommended to maintain your refreshed look.
Filler for Chin Enhancement
- Chin filler is a popular treatment used to help enhance a weak chin or to smooth out irregularities such as dimpling by increasing volume to the area – tailored to support your individual aesthetic goals. An injection of dermal fillers (containing hyaluronic acid) can be used to subtly reshape and remodel the chin, leaving you feeling more confident with your enhanced facial profile and definition. You can also try Kybella to contour under-chin fat.
Chin filler Treats:
- Lack of profile balance
- A recessed or “weak” chin
- Mask marionette lines
- Facial asymmetry
- Typically, results are visible immediately and can last up to 18 months depending on the product used and your individual metabolism.
Filler for Hand Rejuvenation
- Chin filler is a popular treatment used to help enhance a weak chin or to smooth out irregularities such as dimpling by increasing volume to the area – tailored to support your individual aesthetic goals. An injection of dermal fillers (containing hyaluronic acid) can be used to subtly reshape and remodel the chin, leaving you feeling more confident with your enhanced facial profile and definition. You can also try Kybella to contour under-chin fat.
Hand filler Treats:
- Think skin on the back of the hands
- “Veiny” looking hands
- Volume loss due to aging
- Wrinkles and lines on the hands
